 C'ville Market works in conjunction with Cavalier Produce to bring fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables to our customers at the most reasonable prices in town. Knowing what is in season, as well as knowing where to get the best produce that is not available locally is the key to our success. Check the list below to see what we have available at C'ville Market. If you want an item you don't see, we encourage you to ask about it.
Apples and Pears: It's apple time in Virginia, and you can get the freshest pickings at C'ville Market. You will find many varieties throughout the year including, locally grown Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala, and McIntosh apples. From Washington state, we get Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and Golden Delicious. Right now we have Bartlett pears and Bosc. We hope to see D'Anjou, and organic D'Anjou in the coming weeks.
Head & Crown Produce: We always have a wonderful mix of leafy lettuces and crown vegetables. Our lettuce varieties include iceberg, red and green leaf, Boston leaf, Romaine, Arugula, Spring Mix, Belgian endive, baby spinach, and upon request, escarole and watercress. Crown and specialty produce inventory includes broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, red cabbage, Napa cabbage, Savoy cabbage, Bok Choy, and baby Bok Choy. Rapini, also known as Broccoli Rabe, is available upon request.
Herbs: Your home cooking is not complete without an assortment of fresh herbs. Find dill, basil, chive, bay leaf, oregano, rosemary, thyme, sage, tarragon, Thai basil, lemongrass, cilantro, parsley, and marjoram at C'ville Market.
Peppers: Used in so many dishes both domestic and international, peppers from sweet bell to spicy hot are always at C'ville Market. Available now are red, yellow, and green bell, jalapeño, Anaheim, Cubanelle, Pablanos, Serrano, and upon request, Habanero peppers.
Tomatoes: A staple at C'ville Market, we have slicing tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, tomatillos, grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and yellow and green tomatoes upon request.
Greens: Collard and Kale are almost always available at C'ville Market. Mustard and turnip greens are also available on special order.
Root vegetables: C'ville Market has a variety of potatoes, including white, "A" red potatoes, new red potatoes, fingerlings, russet, organic russet, Yukon gold, and local sweet potatoes. Other root vegetables available include baby carrots, carrots, organic carrots, parsnips, radishes, Daikon radishes, beets, yucca, celery root, ginger, and upon request, horseradish and salsify (oyster root).
Onions: We offer a variety of onions including white, yellow, red, and sweet onions. We also have shallots, Cippolinis, pearl onions, scallions, and leeks.
Squash: This fall we have plenty of yellow squash, zucchini, acorn squash, butternut squash, eggplant, spaghetti squash, delicata, dumpling, buttercup, carnival, and blue hubbard squash.
Miscellaneous vegetables: Crop vegetables like corn are scarce right now, but we do have green beans, sugar snap peas, and snow peas available.
Mushrooms: C'ville Market always has a nice variety of mushrooms in our cold room. We currently have Shiitake, Portobello, and Crimini mushrooms to name a few. Our mushrooms are popular as a hearty ingredient for vegan dishes or as flavor enhancers for soups, sauces, and salads.
Citrus: Whether they are from Florida or sunny California, we always have a bright assortment of citrus offerings. Right now C'ville Market has Fall-glo tangerines, Valencia oranges, pink grapefruit, lemons, and limes.
Melons & Specialty Fruits: This fall we have cantaloupe and honeydew melons. We also have specialty fruits such as coconut, pineapple, mango, papaya, organic bananas, bananas, plantains, and avocados.
Berries: Obviously our berry market is much more robust in late spring and summer, but we try to stock strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries throughout the year.
Grapes: C’ville Market is looking forward to the fall harvest of grapes coming our way this month and next. We may see varieties such as White Autumn Kings, Scarlett Royals or Crimsons to name a few. Right now we have both red and white grapes but as the full harvest begins we expect to have some varieties on special. .

Dickie Bros. Orchard – A drive down 29 south will be worth the trip for both the scenery and the visit to the family owned Dickie Brothers Orchard.
Hartland Farms – This working family farm supplies everything from apples and pumpkins to honey and Christmas trees.
Crown Orchard – Families throughout the state know Crown Orchard for its famed Carter Mountain Orchard. Carter Mountain has become a multi-seasonal highlight and cherished family tradition for thousands who flock there each and every year. We are proud to offer Crown Orchard peaches, apples, and nectarines each year.
Sunnyside Farms – Located in Cumberland County, we get many fresh, local vegetables from Sunnyside Farms such as zucchini and yellow squash, green and red peppers, cucumbers, and grape tomatoes.
Dodd's Acres Farms – A very large local farm, we get everything from watermelons to eggplant from Dodd's Farms. Our customers especially love the Hanover tomatoes we promote each summer from Dodd's.
